Don't Let a Good War Go to Waste!
How the American corporate media and political class warp your mind in ghoulish ways
A Quick Rundown
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve found myself at a loss regarding how to write about the current state of American politics. Events have moved far too fast, and the Zeitgeist has shifted far too quickly to really nail down an important topic that encompasses all of it, and there’s only so much time I can dedicate to my writing hobby. If I were to cover everything, I would be pumping out nearly an article a day.
To put this further into perspective, here is a brief rundown of the kind of things that have been happening.
Russia invades Ukraine
Anti-Russian sentiment in America immediately skyrockets
Russian businesses are vandalized and Russian nationals are forced to denounce Putin
American economically sanctions Russia and pulls businesses out of the country
Gas prices immediately rise (once again)
American politicians begin calling for policies that would lead to a nuclear war
The federal government fast tracks billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine
Anti-war members of the American press are, without proof, labeled “Russian assets”
The Biden administration is caught lying about bio-labs in Ukraine
Biden begins blaming all inflation on the Russia-Ukraine conflict
When reviewing all of this in my head, I had to think long and hard about what angle I should take. Eventually, I decided that the most important aspect, for my purposes at least, is how the Washington establishment has been maneuvering through these circumstances.
Needless to say, it’s been quite a worrying time for political dissidents. Any time the ghoulish corporate-owned politicians passionately unite on a singular issue, there’s something incredibly sketchy going on. This is especially true when the issue at hand is happening halfway across the world, in a country most Americans have never given a single thought to.
Yet this is exactly what has happened. All of the Corpo-Leftists who decimated American cities during 2020 have teamed up with the Neocons who led us into a disastrous invasion of the Middle East that lasted well over a decade and have seemingly formed one mono-party, beating the war drum under the Ukrainian flag. And I mean that literally.
Politicians who have shown little love for American tradition and values quickly began posting photos of themselves standing near a Ukrainian flag or wearing the Ukrainian colors on their lapel pins.
They began speaking out about how outraged they were over the violation of Ukraine’s border, while the American one still stands open, and about how being a TRUE patriot means uncritically supporting Ukraine’s government.
Jingoism has returned in a big way, just not for the benefit of America.
But, of course, we need to ask the single most necessary question when observing politicians act in a way that makes little sense: what is all of this REALLY about? And the answer, as usual, is money and power.
It’s no secret at this point that Ukraine has essentially been an American puppet state for years, following the ousting of their president in 2014 and the appointment of his pro-American replacement. Ukraine’s position on the world map is a valuable one, considering its proximity to not only one, but two of America's biggest geopolitical rivals, so of course the loss of Ukraine would be a mighty blow to the American empire.
There’s far more to it than just that, though…
Propaganda
American politicians and the corporate media seem to be using the Russia-Ukraine conflict as yet another moral panic that can be used to manipulate the public as they see fit.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson outlined this in a stunning monologue on March 8th:
For the record, this is the third moral panic we have had in the United States of America in less than two years. You don't want to live in a country in which moral panics break out regularly, by the way. Moral panics diminish the people engaged in them and hurt the people who don't. They're degrading. They're crazy. They're the opposite of what you want. You want to live in a country where wisdom and restraint and rational behavior and decency determine the outcomes, not screaming. But we live in a country of moral panics…
Who is benefiting? Anyone who lies for a living. The liars have perfect cover. Ask yourself: How much of what you first heard about BLM, and then about the coronavirus turned out in the end to be true? How many of the first stories were true? Not many. It was almost all lies, but you didn't know that at the time because you were busy being yelled at. If you dared to point out that actually all lives matter, they denounced you as a racist. If you expressed concern about vaccine mandates, of course, they called you an anti-vaxxer.
Carlson is, of course, completely correct. The American people, once again, seem to be getting primed for more government overreach, censorship, and corporate profiteering. Speak out about any of it, and you’re labeled a “Russian asset” by the regime shills. Carlson would bear the brunt of this following several of his monologues, vindicating him completely.
“Why does FoxNews give Russian asset Tucker Carlson a platform to promote an anti-American values agenda?” asked verified TV producer Ken Olin to his 251K Twitter followers. Popular account “Republicans Against Trumpism” asked bluntly “Since we now know that Tucker Carlson is a Russian asset, should the US Government seize his property?”
Writer for the Corpo-Leftist rag Daily Kos, Christopher Reeves, reposted a video of a Carlson monologue being shown on Russian TV and added “tell me you are a Russian asset without telling me you are a Russian asset.”
Congressman Adam Kinzinger, obviously sniffing out a way to accrue more political clout with his fellow establishment ghouls, decided he wanted to join the fray as well, publicly declining an offer to appear on Carlson’s show and calling it “evil” and “Russian propaganda.”
It wasn’t just Republicans who would be subjected to this treatment for speaking out against the warmongering corporate media and corrupt politicians. Former Democratic presidential hopeful Tulsi Gabbard would also be put on blast by the media and their social media shills after she acknowledged the American biolabs in Ukraine (keep in mind, this was well after the US State Department had publicly acknowledged them).
Jon Cooper, a long time politician who worked on Barack Obama’s campaign and has nearly a million Twitter followers, tweeted out “Does anyone else think Tulsi Gabbard is traitorous scum?”
Former presidential candidate and current senator Mitt Romney would also join in, claiming that Gabbard was “parroting false Russian propaganda,” and added “her treasonous lies may well cost lives.”
You read that correctly. Not only did he accuse her of “treason,” but also of getting people killed. These are serious allegations, but ones for which wretched establishment thralls like Romney will never be held accountable for.
If this wasn’t enough, we’ve also seen the corporate media and political class reject the truth in favor of blatant wartime propaganda. Stories like “The ghost of Kiev” and the heroic sacrifice of the Snake Island soldiers were found to be fabrications meant to bolster support for Ukraine only after they had been spread far and wide by mainstream American media (notable among these propaganda spreaders being the aforementioned Adam Kinzinger).
Instead of outrage that our corporate media outlets weren’t doing their due diligence, the response ranged from lukewarm acceptance to outright apathy. “Disinfo” consultant Kristofer Goldsmith, who is verified on Twitter, tweeted the following:
As your resident disinfo expert I’m here to tell you that the truth behind the Ghost of Kyiv doesn’t matter.
The Legend of the #GhostOfKyiv matters.
It’s boosting Ukrainian morale, and Ukrainian resilience is scaring the hell out of Putin.
Tweet away!
Political commentary site “Politics1” agreed with this sentiment, writing:
The Ghost of Kyiv ace fighter pilot could be a fictional legend ... but who cares. The Ukrainian people need stories of heroism to bolster them in these dark days.
Meanwhile, factual matters about Ukraine’s history have been deboosted or outright censored, which was the case with the 2015 Oliver Stone documentary “Ukraine on Fire,” which chronicled the political strife within Ukraine spanning from the countries inception to the fallout from the US-assisted 2014 overthrow of the Ukrainian government. After years of being readily available online, YouTube decided that the documentary was suddenly ban-worthy, and removed it from their platform.
Luckily, this attempt at information control backfired. The documentary was quickly reuploaded onto Rumble and Alex Jones’ sites, and garnered the attention of many people who would have otherwise overlooked the film.
Now I ask you to return to that important question from earlier: What is all of this REALLY about? Does advocating for the censorship of journalists or accusing people of treason for pointing out American biolabs actually help the Ukrainian people or put a stop to the deadly Russian invasion? No, not at all. Does fabricating war stories and pretending they’re real help? I doubt it.
What these things actually accomplish is the following:
Creates a chilling effect that stifles dissent against the establishment monoparty
Justifies censorship of the media
Romanticizes war (and, by extension, proxy war)
Gets Americans more accustomed to high amounts of government spending
It’s GREAT for TV news ratings!
If you thought the psy-op would stop at this, however, you would be very wrong…
Shifting the Blame
It has become quite obvious to anyone who is sufficiently tuned in that the Russia-Ukraine conflict is being used as a kind of escape hatch for the Biden administration. While inflation had been on the rise since the very start of Joe Biden’s presidential term, and had hit nearly 8% just before the invasion of Ukraine, All of the financial woes being suffered by working class Americans were now placed solely on the shoulders of Putin.
The administration has been so set on pushing this narrative, that Biden’s secretary, female Mark Zuckerberg alien Jen Psaki, filmed a special video solely to drive the point home. In it, she says the following:
You may have noticed this week that your gas prices have gone up. I want to talk to you a little bit about why. A lot of it has to do with Vladimir Putin. The reality is that Russia is one of the three largest oil producers in the world. And the fact that they have started this conflict, invaded a foreign country, and they're such a big producer of oil in the world is the reason why the global oil markets are disturbed right now and why your gas prices are going up.
This was all said despite the fact that gas prices, just like inflation, had been steadily on the rise for years after the incredible lows of the Trump administration. They didn’t stop there, however. The administration also enlisted popular TikTokers (is that how you spell it?) to push the same message to their young fans. The Daily Mail reported the propaganda initiative like this:
Joe Biden has cynically deployed TikTokers to blame soaring inflation on Russia's invasion of Ukraine - even though it was a serious issue for months before that war began. The White House held a zoom briefing for about 30 popular internet figures, who promptly took to their social media accounts to talk about what the White House had briefed them on.
They include Ellie Zeiler, an 18-year-old who has more than 10 million followers and who later did as she was asked with a pro-Biden clip. She posted a video on her profile entitled: 'Why is gas so expensive?' It is unclear if any of the influencers were paid for their services, although they were approached because of their work with a nonprofit called Gen Z for Change.
Even after all of this effort, the American people still haven’t bought any of this obvious bullshit (at least most of them haven’t). Biden himself expressed frustration at their messaging failures during a press conference. "I’m sick of this stuff," he shouted angrily. "The American people think the reason for inflation is the government spending more money. Simply not true."
I would love to hear a valid explanation for why printing trillions of dollars in excess of America’s usual annual spending has little to no inflationary effect, but I doubt there is one. And, if one did exist, we certainly wouldn’t be hearing it from a corrupt and senile establishment wraith like Joe Biden.
But still, Americans seem to have, at the very least, been sufficiently distracted from the federal government’s various blunders and general incompetence for the time being, and the ones who actually want to discuss the woes of average Americans are shouted down by the more easily brainwashed social media denizens and regime shills.
Even more worrying is the fact that some people seem to have embraced the suffering of the American people as virtuous, with media personalities and celebrities leading the charge. George Takei, of Star Trek fame, recently wrote the following:
Americans: We can endure higher prices for food and gas if it means putting the screws to Putin. Consider it a patriotic donation in the fight for freedom over tyranny.
Late night talk show host Stephen Colbert also expressed this sentiment on his show, stating that it was worth paying higher prices for a “clear conscience,” and even joked that he’d be fine with a price of $15 per gallon because he drives an electric car (nauseating).
This is a very worrying development, since viewing the suffering of a nation’s poor and working classes as virtuous is usually a characteristic of failing authoritarian regimes, the most notable and deadly example being North Korea’s famine and the “Arduous March” rhetoric they deployed to sugar coat it.
Of course, what’s happening to Americans right now isn’t nearly as devastating, but we need to be vigilant and call this kind of rhetoric out as the cheap damage control that it is. If we let them get away with it now, they’ll certainly deploy the same tactics when things get even worse (and I do believe they will).
They Can Rape Your Mind
Whenever I think of America’s corrupt journalistic class, a quote from famous USSR defector Yuri Bezmenov always comes to mind:
Nobody likes them, but they exist. The media, who elected them? How come they have so much power?... They can rape your mind. They have the nerve to decide what is good, what is bad...
This quote is perhaps the best encapsulation of the corporate media’s behavior over the past few years that I’ve heard. A close second comes once again from Tucker Carlson, who claimed that “hysteria is now the official language of public discourse” in a recent monologue.
The current state of American political conversation is not only deeply unhealthy, but it makes honest and open communication more and more difficult with every media psy-op.
Think of all of the moral panics and crises we’ve had since Trump took office, and think about how quickly the corporate establishment and their media goons were able to change the entire political zeitgeist seemingly overnight:
Russiagate
White Supremacy on the rise (e.g. the PewDiePie pipeline)
The MeToo movement
The COVID pandemic
”Anti-vaxxers”
Black Lives Matter and George Floyd
Abolish the Police
The mailbox paranoia (“Trump is stealing mailboxes!”)
The Big Lie (aka the Sacred Election)
January 6th
”Republicans want to erase American history”
The Russia-Ukraine conflict
The end result of all of this was that the corporate establishment was able to further accrue wealth and power over the average citizen, as well as sanitize their image and make the corporate elites and their political cronies out to be stalwart heroes of Democracy and virtue.
Meanwhile, everyone who filled their head with the constant stream of propagandistic diarrhea has only found themselves more mentally ill, exhausted, and impoverished. Think about it: how many of you (who aren’t in the aristocracy or managerial laptop class) can honestly say that your life has gotten better after these events?
Matt Taibbi recently elaborated on all of this in a fantastic Substack post, which you can read here:
Here’s an excerpt that I thought was particularly brilliant:
We’re at the end of a twenty-year cycle that has taken what was once the oppositional-skeptic portion of the American population and seen them rallied behind the people they once hated the most. This has been accomplished by keeping us in a rage that always escalates and is never watered down by contradictions, thanks to mastery of “reality control” via “an unending series of victories over your own memory.”
The relentless parade of panics… makes those victories easy, and every time we switch targets, from Russians to neo-Nazis to cops to transphobes to insurrectionists to the unvaccinated to truckers and back to Russians again, the Church of Forgetting picks up new converts.
It’s not just people like Taibbi who have noticed this. New memes have thankfully emerged from the collective dissident consciousness that do a great job at summing these phenomena up in a nice, easily understood package.
The most notable of these is [the current thing]. With each new panic and crisis, there always seems to be a contingent of the American population who absolutely needs to show their support for some regime-approved force of good, whether that be some flavor of minority, Ukraine, the vaxx, or even the post office.
This is called “supporting [the current thing],” and it is always subject to change whenever the corporate media and establishment goblins decide they have something new to play with.
Hopefully, with wide enough rejection of the corpos, we can “break the conditioning” and weaken this mental stranglehold our political ecosystem has over the average person. Come next panic, I urge you not to feel compelled to support [the current thing].
Think for yourself and question everything. And, most importantly, point out the useful lies from the establishment when you see them. You’ll be glad that you did later down the road.
As always, thank you all very much for reading.
